There is a wealth of information to help you manage late payments and debt but there may well be circumstances where, you require further assistance. This is where our consultancy services can assist with the more tricky debt recovery situations. Full details are provided below to get you started. Telephone Advice - Book a Call

You can use our online booking service to schedule a call-back from a debt management and recovery solicitor at Markel Law. The cost is £50 plus VAT per call which is collected at the point of booking the call.

This is how it works:

You can choose any available timeslot between 9am – 5pm on weekdays
For example, if you pick 2pm on any given day, we’ll call you between 2pm and 3pm
Tell us some information about yourself e.g. your name, contact number and email address
Have a look at the general information in our terms and conditions and customer care letter
Pay the fee with a card when prompted
You’ll get a confirmation email with the details
We’ll line up the right person for you to chat with and they will call you back in the time slot selected

Additional Services

We know there are situations when recovering debt where you have tried everything and it feels like going to court is the only option. We offer fixed fee solutions to provide clear and transparent pricing information. Our options include:

Pre-action letters - £50 plus VAT

Markel Law to review your overdue invoice(s) and issue a Letter Before Action on Markel Law letterhead
No upper or lower limit for debt owed
If you have several debts with one debtor, these may be dealt with in one letter
No additional charge for single follow up ‘chaser’ letter
Only available for uncontested debts

Issuing Court proceedings – From £500 + VAT + Court Fee

All claims issued via the County Court
Completion and submission of the claim form and particulars of claim
If claim is admitted, obtain judgment against debtor (to include all recoverable costs)
If claim is not responded to, request made to Court to enter judgment in default against debtor (to include all recoverable costs)
Initial advice on any defence (and counterclaim) received and available options to proceed
Any further work carried out at hourly rates

Please note:

For debt amounts between £0 – £5,000 – a fixed fee of £500 plus VAT
For debt amounts between £5,001 – £10,000 – a fixed fee of £750 plus VAT
For debt amounts over £10,000 – £975 plus VAT
*Please note the above costs excludes court fees
*Court fees are:
Value of Debt Court issue fee
£0 – £5,000 £35 – £205
£5,001 – £10,000 £455
£10,001 + 5% of value of claim (max £10,000)
